Bioparc Valencia: Travel to Africa without leaving the city

Activities and plans
Want to immerse yourself in new unknown places without leaving Valencia? Bioparc Valencia allows you to do just that. Spend a day at this outdoor zoo and be transported to the Savannah, the Equatorial forests and African wetlands.

Located in Cabecera Park, Bioparc Valencia sits north of the old winding riverbed that is now Turia Gardens. Opened in 2008, Bioparc is an innovative and pioneering project in València that gives us a glimpse into the life, habitats and animal species of the far-flung African plains and forests. Thanks to Bioparc we get the chance to see a slice of this paradise with our own eyes and go on a real adventure.

Designed with the concept of ‘zoo-immersion’ in mind, Bioparc is an immersion exhibit that offers authentic mixed-species areas. Find yourself immersed in spectacular diverse natural spaces that are a world away from what we know, all in just one place.

Explore the Savannah, the Equatorial forest, the Wetlands and Madagascar - take your pick! In each area, you will find breathtaking animals: flamingos, lemurs, pelicans, buffaloes, chimpanzees, hippos, crocodiles, antelopes, elephants, hyenas, lions, giraffes, the list is endless. The animals at Bioparc Valencia are given the utmost care and live surrounded by vegetation indigenous to their native habitat. These creatures behave and live together as they would in the wild.

If you’re wondering how to get to Bioparc Valencia, from the city itself it is very simple; there are several buses that drop you near the entrance, or you can take the metro almost all the way there, with only a short walk at the other end. If you are feeling more energetic, then you can cycle or walk through Turia gardens, admiring the views as you go. If you are travelling from outside of València then your best bet is to drive.

On top of being home to some extraordinary animals, Bioparc Valencia also boasts several eateries for when you get peckish. Choose between Samburu restaurant, Kidepo Café or the two snack stands located in the Ndoki zone and complete your day out with something tasty to eat. Plan a day out with the family roaming the jaw-dropping landscapes of the African continent; it’s an experience you’ll enjoy no matter how old you are.
