Fiestas en Pilar de la Horadada

Fiestas en Pilar de la Horadada
The festivities of Pilar de la Horadada are spread throughout the year. We should highlight the Holy Week processions with important sacred carvings; the Pilgrimage of San Isidro held on 15 May in Cañada de Praes; the ones held on July 30 to celebrate the commemoration of the segregation of the municipality; and the popular festivals, which are held in summer, especially on 25 July in the Mil Palmeras Condominium, and the celebration of the Virgin of August in Torre de la Horadada, in which the traditional Rosary of the Aurora is prayed and the Maritime procession of the Assumption, patron saint of the town, is held. The festivities in honour of the patron saints take place in October, when we can highlight the offering of flowers on day 11, the Mass and the procession on day 12, and the parade of floats on the next-to-last Saturday of October. We should also highligh, however simple it may seem, the day of the "pañolada", an idea of the municipality's priest, held for a few years. On this day, all clubs and people in the streets gather in the church square, where a mass takes place and then a to walk around town with a brass band takes place. The children can enjoy a playground and for everybody else, there is a broad offer of sports events, shows, open-air balls, exhibitions, music and parades, pyrotechnics, fireworks, cuisine and, of course, the religious events.
