Come and visit one of Dénia’s most iconic monuments: a watchtower overlooking the seas.

Torre del Gerro, El Gerro Tower, is a monument that you simply have to put on your list of things to see in Dénia. Sitting on the Alicante coast, this destination has fascinating historical heritage sites and has been listed a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.

El Gerro Tower, also known as L'Aigua Dolça Tower, is a 16th century watchtower that used to monitor the comings and goings on the sea waters. It has an unusual jug shape. The machicolation and its crenelated top cut an unmissable silhouette on the coastline.

We’d recommend coming to visit El Gerro Tower and snapping some excellent photos of the monument with the sea in the background. It’s a great way to spend your time.

You can also walk or cycle along Vía Verde de Dénia, a former railway line turned into a trail, or head in the direction of a spectacular mountain in El Montgó Natural Park.

There’s plenty to do in Dénia and setting off on a hike is one of many options. The walk to El Gerro Tower is a simple one, making it ideal for a outing with the kids. So how about it? Come for an explore.
