Every October 9, Valencians celebrate their community day. Historically it is celebrated that on that date, in the year 1238, Jaime I officially entered the city of Valencia to free her from Muslim rule. For this reason, since 1976 this community celebrates the proclamation of the Valencian Community Day.

Currently, October 9 is a holiday throughout the Valencian Community, although it has much more roots in the city of Valencia. Parallel to the official program, other institutions and groups perform other acts, such as regional dances and music or the entry of Moors and Christians.

October 9 coincides with the day of Sant Donís, the day of Valencian lovers. It is typical of this holiday that men give women what is known as “Mocadorà”, or also called “Mocaorà”, which is the name given to marzipan sweets collected inside a handkerchief, in the form of a "hatillo", closed with a knot or a ring.

To celebrate October 9 Xaló has prepared the following activities.
