A long weekend in Alicante
Publishing date 6/01/2014
Hiking trips, guided tours, museums, gastronomy and lots of fun… it’s easy to enjoy Alicante through www.findelargoalicante.es, a website created by the local provincial hotel association. You’ve finally got the long weekends you were waiting for!
All 57 establishments that belong to the Alicante Provincial Hotel Association allow their clients to stretch their weekends up to six in the afternoon on Sunday up until March 30th. This way everyone has the chance to enjoy a longer-than-usual escapade while participating in guided tours.
It is now easier than ever to discover the city and its province. You can visit attractive villages such as Altea, Xàbia or El Campello, with their maritime flair and beautiful landscapes, World Heritage sites such as the Elche palm grove, the mountains of Alcoy and Biar, the Monastery of Santa Faz or the castle route.
The “Essence of Alicante” route is a guided tour through the city on Saturday mornings. Leaving from the Explanada Tourist info point, it will first lead you to the Castle of Santa Bárbara, from where you can enjoy spectacular views of the city and interesting expositions. After that it follows the historical centre, the Santa Cruz neighbourhood and it ends at the offices of the Alicante Denomination of Origin, where you can taste some excellent locally-produced wines before eating. During the afternoon, you can visit the Volvo Ocean Race museum, an exposition that reveals the inner workings of one of the most spectacular regattas in the world.
Remember, if you want to spend a long weekend in Alicante, you can simply arrange it through www.findelargoenalicante.es by choosing a hotel and making a reservation. Don’t forget to mention that you’re interested in a long weekend.
