It’s time to get out your calendar and pencil in San Fulgencio’s festivals. You’re going to love getting to know the traditions of this part of La Vega Baja in the province of Alicante. In January, the locals create a fun atmosphere for the festivities in honour of San Fulgencio and San Antonio Abad. The celebrations combine religious events and parties. Make sure you don’t miss the moving blessing of the animals nor the unusual “Proposal of the Hen”. Have you ever heard of it? The event consists of the locals making their way around the destination offering animals. On top of all that, there will be plenty of brotherhood lunches.

San Fulgencio’s festival calendar continues with Holy Week and then San Isidro Labrador Festival in May. The latter sees a pilgrimage make its way to Paraje El Oasis to the sound of traditional songs. They’re a delight to hear.

In August, it’s the festival in honour of Virgen de la Paz where you can soak up the unique atmosphere. And lastly, when October comes around, you can expect San Fulgencio’s most entertaining festival which celebrates Virgen del Remedio. For the occasion, San Fulgencio decorates the streets, makes beautiful floats and organises firework displays. So how about it? Why don’t you come and experience it all for yourself?
