Visit Alzira to experience a traditional pilgrimage that will immerse you in the beautiful scenery of La Murta.

Valle de la Murta in Alzira is a popular spot among rock climbers who flock to the area to feel at one with nature and get their adrenaline pumping. Climbers, however, are not the only ones to come to the valley to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

On the first Sunday of June, pilgrims take part in Romería de la Murta. The image of the Virgen is transferred to the ruins of Monasterio de los Jerónimos de Santa María de la Murta. There is then an outdoor mass in which flowers are given as an offering to the saint. Bread – that has been blessed – is then handed out and paella is cooked. The dish tastes even better in the great outdoors. To conclude the event there is music and dancing. Come along to Alzira to experience this pilgrimage for yourself.
