According to tradition the devotion to San Pascual stems from the year 1661 when an Ibi labourer, before a persistent drought, beseeched the saint while at the same time sinking his large hoe into the ground from which emerged a source of water. In commemoration of this occurrence a small shrine was built and in the aforementioned place on 17th May the custom began of attending a mass followed by the almorsaret (breakfast) and up to lunchtime races, pastimes and popular dances are held to the sounds of the brass band.
