Saint Blaise

Saint Blaise

Por San Blas, la cigüeña verás (You´ll see a stork near St. Blaise´s day), is local calendar folklore and a way the people have of paying tribute to their patron saint, Sant Blai, each third of February. There is a fair, sporting competitions, and, above all, cultural acts such as exhibitions and concerts. Special attractions for children also make up the extensive programme of acts for Sant Blai. The religious aspect joins with the cultural one, particularly in the moving of the figure of the saint in procession from the hermitage to the parish church, and the solemn procession to return it to its original resting place. The anthropological facet of the festivity is to be found in the traditional Font del Vi, a centenary fountain from which flows a plentiful quantity of wine throughout the morning of the third of February. This is offered to all those who come to the vicinity of the hermitage named after the saint.
