Santa Pola’s Gran Playa is a wonderful stretch of the coastline where you’ll find everything you need for a day of sun, sea and sand.

Gran Playa is an urban beach in Santa Pola that extends at a width of 55m along the coastline for 1,425m. Located in the western part of the destination, the large beach is peppered with clusters of palm trees which paint a pretty, and quintessentially Alicante, picture.

The beach offers a wide range of services to make your experience a convenient and safe one. There is a service for people with disabilities, lounger and parasol hire and volleyball and football facilities. The lifeguard and first aid services function efficiently and there is also an outdoor gym and water sport area where you can enjoy windsurfing, paddle boarding and kayaking. Alternatively, you could rent out a pedalo or have a great time at the waterpark.

In and around Gran Playa, you'll find a selection of restaurants, cafés and bars serving up all sorts of culinary delights. The shops are the perfect place to get your hands on a gift or souvenir to take home a memory of your day here.

An interesting fact about Gran Playa in Santa Pola is that it was a popular summer destination in the early 19th century. People, mostly from Elche, would travel to the shores of Santa Pola to enjoy all its wonders. 'Baño de las Sirenas', which is located in the present-day port, was once a social club for the wealthiest visitors of the time. Locals and visitors continue to be drawn in by the waters.
