Come and see Torre del Señor de la Vila, a tower with ten centuries of history behind it located in the centre of Serra.

Torre del Señor de la Vila is located in Serra. Unlike others in the destination, such as Torre de Ría and Torre de la Ermita, this tower is located inside the village. Take a wander around the streets, and before too long, you’re sure to bump into it.

Torre del Señor de la Vila has a lot of history behind it. Built in the 9th century, the Moorish tower was used for military and defence purposes as well as serving as shelter for the population if they were ever under the threat. It was also used as a prison. The tower is in good condition. The walls are still standing, even though houses have been built on either side.

Listed a Site of Cultural Interest in 2001, Torre del Señor de la Vila is an important part of Serra’s historic and architectural history. In 2018, restoration work therefore commenced on the tower, starting with the restoration of the external walls, the reparation of cracks and holes, and the cleaning of the walls to help reinforce the structure. If you come and visit Torre del Señor de la Vila, you will be able to see the restoration’s incredible results.

Combining heritage and scenery, Serra is a village bursting with things for visitors to see and do. Come and explore the destination’s towers and castles, and enjoy exploring the natural landscapes. Once you’ve been once, you’re sure to be back.
