Chapel of Sant Josep i la Creu

Built in 1894 and restored after, this chapel is the top of the Stations of the Cross, preceded by staged terraces. From the church, landscapes such as the Sierra Calderona Mountains and the Turia valley can be seen. The chapel is dedicated to San Josep i la creu (Saint Josep and the cross). Made simply and soberly, it’s a small building with a double-slope roof. The facade is painted white and, in the top, stands a belfry with a small black bell under a pointed arch. Butresses hold the walls on the sides and, in the inside; the floor is articulated like chess set (with black and white tiles). The chapel is covered with a groin vault and, in the altar; an ornamented pointed arch houses a niche. In the presbytery, a rocky base made of cork supports a wooden cross.
