The Hermitage of Santa Ana and Calvario

Img 1: THE HERMITAGE OF 'SANTA ANA' AND CALVARIO

The Hermitage of Santa Ana, founded in the XV century, is found on the high of a hill surrounded by pine trees through which winds the path of the Calvario. The surroundings acquire a natural character from which an extensive landscape is dominated, including that of the town itself. For the inhabitants it constitutes an intimate and sentimental emblem, as it is here that the venerated image of the Holiest Cristo de la Agonía is kept, patron to the town, and in whose honour the festivities of Moors and Christians are celebrated. In the chapel also stands the image of Santa Ana.
