San Miguel Iberian Settlement

yacimiento íbero de Sant Miquel

This Iberian city was declared a Heritage of Cultural Interest (BIC) in 1995. This city used to be the capital of Edetania. It had close to 10ha of extension and its urban plan was complex and adapted to the steep sloping terrain. The back walls of its houses were placed against the mountain's rock face, which shaped a framework of sinuous streets. The houses were built of stone baseboards and with walls of adobe bricks. The houses used to have several-storeys, connected within by means of wooden or stone stairs, and with exits onto two streets. At the San Miguel Iberian settlement one can observe an excellent exhibit of the restored town.
