Época visigoda

Museo Visigodo de Pla de Nadal, also known as MUPLA, is housed in Sala Oratorio at Riba-roja de Túria Castle. The museum displays pieces found at Pla de Nadal archaeological site.

Pla de Nadal was a palace that was commissioned to be built by Theodemir, Duke of Carthaginensis. The museum invites you to embark on an investigation into the architecture, decoration and epigraphy of Pla de Nadal. Not only will you discover how the stonemasons, plaster artists and painters created the building, you will also see close to 100 pieces of sculpture, forming the largest collection of decorative art from Visigothic Hispania and one of the most complete from the western reaches of the civilisation.

This is an accessible museum with an itinerary that has been adapted for people with disabilities. There is also a model of Palacio de Pla de Nadal for people with visual impairment.

Museo Visigodo has won many awards. It was the first in the province of Valencia to win the Q for Quality for museums, awarded by Instituto para la Calidad Turística Española (ICTE), and it also has the Turismo Seguro Label from ICTE.

Once you’ve visited the museum, make the most of the opportunity to explore Riba-roja de Túria Castle, which also houses Museo de Cerámica (the ceramics museum) and Espai d'Art Contemporani ECA (a contemporary art centre). There’s more than enough art and heritage to explore.
