One of Valencia's most beautiful corners is the square of San Luis Bertrán where the main gate of the Almudín is located and which was built on top of an old Muslim fortress. It was originally built to store grain in, hence its relatively small size, but over time, this was increased to its present dimensions. Inside there is a collection of popular paintings depicting the arrival of the wheat which also immortalise those who ran each guild that was involved in the selling of the produce. Short-term exhibitions are also held here, chosen for their special interest.
