The Escuelas Pías Church

Img 1: THE ESCUELAS PÍAS CHURCH

Its huge façade consists of two unequal blocks supported by columns, Ionic on the one side and Corinthian on the other. The main body of the church denotes a certain occult Baroque style, combined with a touch of the Classical. In its seven chapels, one can see altars formed by two Corinthian columns on pedestals and round or circular pediments. The finishing touch is a spectacular tiled cobalt-blue dome, one of the largest in the city. One of the largest pipe-organs in Spain, recently restored, is also to be found in this church.
