Shrine Of Santa Ana

Img 1: SHRINE OF SANTA ANA

Situated on the outskirts of the town, at just over 1km from the town centre, is the old church of Fabanella. This is a welcoming little chapel that invites the visitor to rest and enjoy the leafy setting that surrounds him. It has not always been the Shrine of Santa Ana, it used to be called the Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Oreto (Shrine of Our Lady of Oreto). On 26th July, the Feast Day of Santa Ana, the chapel is filled with colivencs in celebration. The celebrations include verbenas (open-air celebrations on the eve of a saint’s day), games, and popular contests providing hours of fun and memories, in this beautiful spot, of a tradition that is almost centennial. It has vehicular access and spacious parking facilities as well as toilets, barbeques, picnic tables and benches and a cistern with a drinkable water fountain.
