Plaça de Dins

This Plaza Mayor, called Plaça de Dins, still conserves the classical arches of the San Agustín Convent, built in the 14th Century, and later reformed. After the confiscation of the property of churches and religious groups in 1837, the convent was acquired by the city council and transformed into apartments and a market place. The building’s reform and enlargement were carried out by the architect José Moltó Valor. In one of the accesses to this plaza, from Santo Tomás Street, stands a gothic arch, last vestige of the Church of San Agustín, which stood next to the Convent.
