Simat de la Valldigna, one of the towns from which to discover the treasures of the Valldigna and a perfect starting point to be surprised by the magnificent Monastery of Santa María de la Valldigna, awaits in its privileged location near the Mediterranean and in a beautiful valley for visitors willing to embark on routes and savour traditions.

What to see in Simat de la Valldigna

In the surroundings of Simat de la Valldigna, apart from visiting the monastery, you will be able to visit the Baroque Chapel of Mare de Déu de Gràcia, from the 18th century, or the old Mosque of La Xara, converted into the Chapel of Santa Anna. You will be able to see diverse and peculiar remains of the old Muslim construction!

In the town centre of Simat de la Valldigna, also built on the site of an old mosque, you will find the 17th century Baroque church of San Miguel Arcángel and the emblematic Font Gran and its beautiful washhouse, which together with the Font Menor forms the start of a water route that takes you to the river Vaca.

A recreational area in the surroundings of Simat de la Valldigna you will fall in love with is the Font del Cirer, located in a micro-reserve of flora and with a beautiful viewpoint from which you can take great photos, or a picnic area where you can enjoy a meal with friends or family.

From this fountain, the monks of the Monastery of Santa María de la Valldigna built an aqueduct in the 18th century, and the remains, which are called Los Arcos de la Font del Cirer, cross the mountain and are the final surprise of a highly recommended hiking route known as the "Camí dels Burros".

And you can't miss the flavours of Simat de la Valldigna, among which we can highlight the brines, the mushrooms, the traditional “coques” or delicious rice dishes, pots and soups. Let’s not forget its sweets! Discover this incredible place and get to know it.
