Vlogs

Located in Horta Sud, Picassent is an interesting place to come and visit close to València city.

Picassent is full of traditions, excellent golf courses and sights of historic and architectural interest. Come and explore this town, which is just a stone’s throw from València, with us.

What to see in Picassent

The town's Fallas celebrations are an event you won't want to miss. This well-known festivity is defined by traditional events like parades, pyrotechnics, colourful dress, spine tingling music and ephemeral sculptures that are burnt on the Day of San José. More than enough of an excuse to start planning a getaway, don't you think?

But Fallas isn’t the only festivity you can experience in Picassent. In July, you can enjoy Fiestas Mayores, while in September it's Virgen de la Vallivana and Cristo de la Fe, where you can watch parades, offerings of flowers and fairs exhibiting agricultural machinery. On the 9 October, the Day of the Region of Valencia and San Dionisio, the town also goes all out in its celebrations.

These festivities are the perfect time to try the town's traditional dishes. Picassent is known for arroz en perol and a dessert made with bread, almonds and other ingredients called pilota. And then, of course, there is paella

In the town, make sure you pop your head into San Cristóbal church, a neoclassical place of worship built in the 18th century on top of an old mosque, and visit Torre de Espioca, an Andalusian watchtower that was part of the impressive castle.

You also won't want to miss Virgen de Vallivana chapel, as well as the areas of natural beauty enveloping the town, such as Cueva del Águila and Cueva de Moneders caves, and Fuente d l’Omet, Ninyerola and El Motlló de l’Almut landscapes.

As you can see, there is plenty to see and do in Picassent. Ideally located and well connected to València, this destination is the perfect place to explore the agricultural land, or huerta as it is locally called, sitting to the south of the city.
