What to do in Navarrés

A good place to start your exploration of Navarrés is in the historic centre where you can wander around the narrow streets that are a reminder of the destination’s Muslim past. When you get to Plaza de la Iglesia, make sure you take time to visit the 18th century, Baroque-style church. At the Parish Museum, you can take a look at an interesting collection of holy art.

Next up on your to-visit list is La Marquesa Fountain, also known as the 24 Chorros Fountain, which dates back to the 16th century. You can then climb up the Stations of the Cross where you will discover an 18th century chapel, great views and some interesting cave houses.

Navarrés Castle is another must-visit during your time in the destination. This 12th century Islamic fortress sits on a much older site dating back to the Bronze Age. The castle makes a great destination for a hiking trail and is an excellent spot to unwind and breathe in the views.

Los Chorradores de Navarrés is an incredible area of natural beauty, the most beautiful part of the local scenery, and a place that you are absolutely going to want to explore. Here you will see a number of waterfalls enveloped in diverse plant life. Nearby you can see Las Quebradas Pool, which has thermal waters. And there is also a natural swimming area, namely Playamonte Lake.

Escalona reservoir is another great place to enjoy the scenery, paddle through the waters in your kayak, enjoy other adventure sports and have a swim. While you’re here, make sure you take a photo on the pretty jetty.

Other things to see in Navarrés include El Garrofero Rock Shelter and El Barbero Cave, both of which have rock art. You’ll need to refuel after all your explorations, so make sure you sit down to try delights such as arroz al horno (oven-baked rice), mojete arriero (a dish made of spinach, cod, beans and eggs), gazpachos, carne de jarrón and the delicious local pastries. Come for a visit and find yourself falling in love with Navarrés
