The inland areas of the Region of Valencia promise to take you on a journey through local traditions, mountain landscapes, fascinating culture and history, and delicious gastronomy. A journey that will immerse you in unknown destinations which you will become a part of. One of the prettiest villages in Marina Baixa county in Alicante, Relleu is one destination you really should put on your must-visit list.

What to do in Relleu

Relleu is known for its unique position, nestled among the mountains. Cabeçó d’Or, Sierra de la Grana, El Aguilar and, in the distance, the impressive Puig Campana overlook and take care of the beautiful village and its surrounding landscapes. Defined by its topography, the village is a maze of narrow streets, pretty stone houses and steep hills.

Once you’ve taken a stroll around the Relleu, we recommend visiting 17th century San Jaime Apóstol Church, which is connected to Mare de Déu del Miracle chapel, celebrating the patron saint of the village. If you then take Camí del Calvari, you will reach Sant Albert Chapel, a landmark of the municipality that is three hundred years old.

The landscapes just outside the village also offer plenty of things to see and do. If you like to get your adrenaline pumping, you can enjoy a number of different via ferratas, such as El Figueret via ferrata, and even take beginners’ classes. You can also do some canyoning or follow the incredible cycling routes through the mountains.

If you are visiting Relleu with your family or are in need of some peace and quiet, hiking is the perfect activity for you. There are a number of trails that will take you through this beautiful slice of the Region of Valencia, such as ruta de los molinos discovering the mills, ruta del pantà de Relleu and ruta dels bortolons. All of which will leave you thirsty for more meaning you’ll find yourself coming back to Relleu time and time again.
