Located in the province of Alicante, Los Montesinos sits next to Las Lagunas de la Mata y Torrevieja Natural Park. This is a destination with lovely scenery and plenty of points of interest that you will enjoy exploring. Start planning your trip to this part of La Vega Baja and let yourself be wowed by the surroundings.

What to do in Los Montesinos

In the centre, we recommend taking a look around Nuestra Señora del Pilar Parish Church, which is home to beautiful sculptures such as a Dolorosa from the Salzillo school. 30 de julio Botanic Garden is another place that is well worth a visit to immerse yourself in the cool shade of the naturescape. If you are visiting on a Friday, you can browse the market stalls.

Outside the town, you will find fascinating historic heritage, such as La Marquesa, an old estate that dates back to the Roman period. Highlights of the site include La Marquesa Tower, La Marquesa Chapel, the cistern and the winery as well as many other elements that are typically found in an agricultural site.

Los Corteses Mill is another interesting place to visit as are the Lo Reig and Lo Vigo Viejo cisterns, which date back to the 18th century. Water architecture holds great importance in this agricultural town.

Los Montesinos is nestled among lovely scenery close to Las Lagunas de la Mata y Torrevieja Natural Park. If you’re looking for things to do in Los Montesinos, we’d recommend walking Ruta Salada, a trail starting in the centre that will give you the opportunity to visit the wetlands.

This circular 3.5km walk snakes its way through the agricultural land and fruit trees where you can see the importance of the local biodiversity. You might even be lucky enough to see an owl. The vegetation on the banks of the wetlands will take you aback.

While you’re enjoying this walk in the outskirts of Los Montesinos you will see plenty of birding towers where you can sit and watch stone curlews, black-winged stilts, flamingos and more. And if you’re in the mood for a bike ride, you can take the Torrevieja Greenway. Start planning a getaway in which you’ll make incredible memories.
