Nestled between the coast and the mountains, La Nucia is a sunkissed Mediterranean destination where you can enjoy all sorts of different experiences.

Just a stone’s throw from the beautiful landscapes of Valle de Guadalest and towns like Altea and Benidorm, La Nucia is an unmissable destination if you’re looking for picturesque streets and incredible festivities celebrated all year round. A large international community has settled in the town, proof that the destination has a lot going for it.

What to see in La Nucia

La Nucia takes its festivals seriously. The most popular is San Vicente, held on the Monday after Easter Monday, and which revolves around San Vicente chapel, located in El Captivador, a beautiful natural area. Here you can expect to see - or take part in - traditional dances, races and live music.

Fiestas Mayores is held from the 14 to the 18 August. The penyas are the stars of the festivity, organising parades, processions, costume parties and much, much more. In November, it’s San Rafael, a religious festival whose highlight is an auction, and at Easter there’s an enactment of the Passion as well as a sports festival for all the family. La Nucia day is on the 9 July and features a vibrant Medieval market and a popular flea market every Sunday.

If you’re not sure what to see in and around La Nucia, we’d recommend starting your explorations in the traditional town, visiting the wash house, stopping off at Favara fountain, whose pretty surroundings include a recreational area and a waterfall, and poking your head into the chapels. La Nucia has many trails where you can enjoy a day of walking and centres where you can embark on all sorts of adventures.

Lastly, we recommend tasting La Nucia’s traditional dishes, such as pilotes de dacsa, minxos a la paleta and arroz cuinat. So what are you waiting for? Start planning your getaway today.
