Situated in inland Marina Alta, Gata de Gorgos is well connected to other nearby towns which make it easy to get to. As soon as you arrive, you will be enveloped by the tranquillity emanating from the streets which are lined with boutiques stocking traditional craft items.

Every Friday morning there is a street market in the town, the perfect excuse to browse the stalls and see some sights. Make sure you see  San Miguel Arcángel, a 17th century church whose great door and bell tower oversee the comings and goings in the town square. We also recommend climbing up the stations of the cross to visit Santísimo Cristo del Calvario chapel

It won’t take you long to discover that Gata de Gorgos has a great artisan tradition, creating, in particular, baskets, wicker items, ceramic tiles and bobbin lace. Every object crafted here is of the greatest quality and make for the most unique of souvenirs. Artisanship is of such importance in the town that there are a couple of museums dedicated to it, focusing specifically on local crafts and the production of guitars.
