A walking paradise, Beniardá is a small country community sitting amid a beautiful mountainscape.

Located in the province of Alicante, Beniardá is just 20km from well-known destinations such as Benidorm and Serra Gelada natural park. It is a small and peaceful place where you can enjoy a slice of rural life in the Region of Valencia.

What to do in Beniardá

Sitting in the Guadalest valley, Beniardá is swept up in the most beautiful scenery. Close to a reservoir, a river and two mountains - Sierra de Xortá and Sierra de Serrella - the destination is a joy to explore on foot, and there are plenty of trails enabling you to do so. The views will blow you away.

Surrounded by the mountains, this is an agricultural area that makes a fantastic destination if you’re in search of peace and quiet. The village streets are set out as they would have been in Moorish times and there are even some buildings that date back to the period. There is also a small aqueduct, which you will see as you make your way to the centre of the village.

As is true of many destinations in the Region, festivals are important in Beniardá. Les Fadrines, which is held in September, is the most popular in the village. Money is raised to pay for all festivities by four young women who organise raffles in advance. Expect plenty of dancing, street parties, costume parties and other more religious events

Beniardá also hosts Feria Artesanal, a fair revolving around traditional products such as olive oil, honey, sweet treats, sausages and more. There are also stalls stocking products made from esparto, ceramics and pottery. While you’re here, don’t miss the opportunity to try minxos (a sort of flatbread that is eaten with different fillings) and buñuelos de calabaza (deep-fried pumpkin doughnuts).

If you’re into your hiking, you’re in luck as Beniardá is the trailhead for walks to places such as Mallada del Llop. So what are you waiting for? Spend some time in Beniardá to soak up the tranquillity and visit some interesting sights.
