What to see in Benasau

Benasau is situated in La Serrella mountains. The municipality has two districts, one of which, Ares del Bosc, is a must visit. Here you can see the traditional wash house, complete with fountain and pool which is in an excellent state of conservation, as well as 16th-century Santa María de los Ángeles Church. You will also want to come and see Los Marqueses del Bosch Palace, also from the 16th century, and take a walk close to El Ares ravine.

In Benasau, make sure you don’t miss the tower of Los Barones de Finestrat Palace, which is also from the 16th century, and San Pedro Apóstol church. And make sure you find the time to try pericana (a pepper spread) and minxos (a pastry with various toppings).

In the outskirts of the village, you will be taken aback by the Roman bridge providing access across the river Ares and the hiking trail that follows La Marina Way. The latter will throw you into a varied abundance of vegetation as a number of micro-reserves have been set up here.

You can also make your way to Picó spring and Les Tres Creus cave in El Molló natural area where you can enjoy great vistas over the county. And it goes without saying that you won’t want to miss the opportunity to visit Ares Castle and see the small El Toll waterfall

There are many reasons why you’ll want to repeat your trip, particularly if you visit during the patron saint festivities that are held in August. Street parties, paellas and kids’ activities will fill the air with good vibes. Come and spend some time in Benasau and enjoy a destination bursting with charm.
