Nestled between two natural parks, Segorbe is a place where traditions, monuments and history rub shoulders.

Located in the province of Castellón, Segorbe is a town where architecture, culture and gastronomy combine with great festivities that pack the streets with crowds of people keen to keep traditions alive. Come and explore everything it has to offer and find yourself falling in love with this historic place.

What to see in Segorbe

A good place to start your exploration of Segorbe is the pretty Conjunto Histórico, which is listed a Site of Cultural Interest. Here your eyes will immediately be drawn to the Castle, Aqueduct and Walls. Though built by the Moors, the fortress underwent transformations in the 14th and 15th centuries, blurring its boundaries with the streets and houses of the town. As you wander around, make sure you don’t miss the prison tower, the beautiful Santa Iglesia Catedral Basílica de Santa María de la Asunción and - of course - the Medieval aqueduct built between the 11th and 12th centuries.

If you fancy venturing outside Segorbe to enjoy the fresh air, you won’t be short on trails to explore. The town is nestled between two natural parks, Sierra Calderona and Sierra de Espadán, areas of natural beauty that are bursting with wildlife. From the peaks of the mountains, you can also breathe in spectacular panoramic views over the Mediterranean Sea.

Back in Segorbe, you can have a whole lot of fun joining in with the local festivals. Listed an Event of International Tourist Interest and Intangible Cultural Heritage, Entrada de Toros y Caballos draws in crowds who want to see the exciting tradition unfold.

Museo del Aceite is another site to put on your to-visit list. This converted olive oil mill will immerse you in the world of olive oil, showing you how the fruits are cultivated and then turned into one of the most quintessential products of the Mediterranean. So what are you waiting for? Start planning your trip to Segorbe and enjoy everything the town has to offer.
