Come and explore a small village with plenty of charm where you can unwind in the midst of the mountainscape. Discover everything you can get up to here.

Located in L’Alt Maestrat in inland province of Castellón, La Serratella is a small village that won't take you long to explore, but that is well worth stopping off at to enjoy some rural tourism, walk a hiking trail or two, and unwind and reconnect. Shall we take a look around?

What to see in La Serratella

A good place to start your exploration is in the centre of the village. Here, it won’t take you long to notice that almost every part of the municipality has views over the surrounding woodland, making you feel as though you are in the midst of the natural world.

Wander the streets and you will soon find yourself standing in front of a point of interest. You might want to start at the medieval community oven or at San Miguel Church, which dates back to the 18th century. This place of worship is much loved by the residents of La Serratella. Its stand-out piece is the processional cross.

We’d also recommend making your way to the Torrente area where you will see a fountain, a trough where the horses used to drink and the traditional public wash house. You are sure to find yourself reaching for your camera. Lastly, you can climb up to the highest part of the municipality, which is a 40 minute walk, to breathe in the spectacular views.

At the top here you will find San Juan Nepomuceno Chapel, a simple construction with a rustic feel that makes the perfect destination for an excursion into the scenery surrounding La Serratella. Other trails from La Serratella will lead you to landscapes populated with holm oaks, thickets of aromatic herbs, fountains, the ruins of old ice houses and even a yew tree that is a thousand years old. These walks are of intermediate level, but we’d always recommend wearing walking boots and carrying walking poles.

Come and experience the joy of gazing at bird’s-eye views from the highest points of La Serratella, a lovely inland destination in the province of Castellón.
