What to do in La Pobla Tornesa

We’d recommend starting your exploration in La Pobla Tornesa’s historic centre where you can take a stroll along the traditional streets and soak up the rural atmosphere. Before too long you will find yourself standing in front of the old town hall, Casa de la Cultura and San Miguel Arcángel Parish Church. Built in the 18th century, this place of worship has interesting works of art such as the High Altar and other paintings, all of which are by Amat Bellés Roig.

La Pobla Tornesa is an historic place, as is proven in the old Iberian settlement of La Balaguera. We’d recommend hiking to it, enjoying the views along the way. The archaeological site has very few remains still standing, but it has great historic value and is strategically located on the top of a hill that affords lovely panoramic vistas.

If you’re in the mood for adventure, La Pobla Tornesa has got a surprise for you. La Cova dels Malandrins is a cave defined by incredible limestone formations which you will need caving and abseiling equipment, as well as experience, to explore. Find out more information before you visit. Alternatively, you can visit a number of caves and rock shelters, namely Cova Negra and Cova del Calvari, on a hike.

La Pobla Tornesa is the gateway to incredible landscapes such as Pinar de la Planeta, which is a paradise for lovers of mushrooming. Then there is, of course, El Desert de les Palmes Natural Park. The Information Centre is a great place to find a trail that will immerse you in all of the park’s natural wonders. So what are you waiting for? Come and explore this fascinating destination.
