Located in inland province of Castellón, La Pobla de Benifassà is a picture-postcard village that breathes peace and tranquillity. Sitting between Bel gorge and La Font d’Enròs gorge, the village is enveloped in a spectacular naturescape that is an absolute joy to explore.

What to see in La Pobla de Benifassà

One of the biggest draws of La Pobla de Benifassà is the landscape it is nestled in. Whichever way you look, you will be amazed by the jagged rocks, verdant woodland and crystalline waters of the local scenery. One of the best ways to explore this wonderland is on foot.

If you enjoy hiking, you’re going to love la Tinença de Benifassà, a natural park where you can walk routes such as seven pobles route. This circular trail will lead you to the seven villages that make up la Tinença de Benifassà, including La Pobla de Benifassà, immersing you in the stunning local flora and fauna.

Beyond its natural scenery, La Pobla de Benifassà offers a number of historic buildings and monuments to visit. Monasterio de Santa María de Benifassà is a case in point, a monastery which was founded by King James I in the year 1233. And then there is the old Market and La Asunción church. Take a stroll through the village and soak up the history that is palpable at these sights.

Just outside La Pobla de Benifassà there are another couple of points of interest. Cova dels Rossegadors, for instance, has a number of cave paintings close to the dam at Ulldecona reservoir. And then there is Jardín de Peter, a magical garden populated with colourful figures, sculptures and houses that will spirit you away to a fantasy world.

La Pobla de Benifassà is a rural destination enveloped in the most spectacular natural scenery. Visit once and you’ll soon find yourself coming back again.
