Bejís is a beautiful village located in inland province of Castellón. Its topography and uneven terrain make it the perfect habitat for all sorts of plant and wildlife. Immersed in a stunning naturescape, the historic centre of the village will immediately take you back in time.

What to do in Bejís

As you wander the lovely streets of Bejís, you’ll discover the village’s past through its different sights and buildings. We recommend starting your exploration at the village’s most important sight:  Bejís castle

Also known as castillo de la Orden de Calatrava, this fortress was built on a hill that is surrounded by two rivers. Dating back to Roman times, the castle is currently in ruins though you can still see some original grain stores and water tanks. This Site of Cultural Interest has a long history. In the 13th century, it was donated to the Orden de Calatrava and subsequently conquered by the Moors and the Christians. Traces of these civilisations are still visible in the architecture today.

At the entrance of the village sits Museo Etnológico, the Ethnological Museum, also home to the tourist office, where you can discover all the history, customs and traditions of Bejís. The Parish church, dedicated to Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles, is also worth a visit. Here you can gaze at the impressive Renaissance door and the pretty patio with arches from an ancient site.

Los Cloticos spring is located on the outskirts of the village. The water coming out of the spring has been naturally filtered as it has run through the heart of the mountain for many years. This is where Bejís’ well-known water comes from.

Come to Bejís to spend a day in the countryside and discover all the secrets of this inland village.
