What to do in Arañuel

A good place to start your explorations is in the centre of Arañuel. Take a stroll down the peaceful streets and feel yourself unwind as you come across 17th century San Miguel Parish Church and the public wash house. The latter paints a pretty picture, nestled into the slopes of the mountain.

As you wander you’ll see quintessential one or two storey country houses with large doors, tiles and attics used for drying products. You can then venture outside the centre to see San Roque Chapel and soak up the scenery defined by boundless agricultural fields and olive groves as well as farmhouses and small inhabited areas. You’ll be blown away by everything you see.

The River Mijares has shaped beautiful scenery around Arañuel. In one section, the water course zigzags and meanders, creating excellent wild swimming spots like those at El Pozo, El Aguasal and Los Chorros. Come here to dip into the cool, clear waters and enjoy the sound of the water and beautiful landscapes.

Additionally, there are the walking trails that will lead you through beautiful ravines and to countless fountains. Arañuel has signposted a number of local routes (different lengths and difficulty levels are available) to places like Balcón del Mijares and Balcón de Santa Bárbara. You also won’t want to miss Las Fuentes Route and Subida al Campero. The route making its way around the Mijares, passing by Seguer fountain, is accessible to people with disabilities. So how about it? Fancy spending some time in Arañuel?
