What to do in Aín

Aín is the perfect place to go birding in Sierra de Espadán, starting your day out in the charming centre whose layout hasn’t changed since Muslim times. The village is encircled by orchards and agricultural land with the mountains in the background.

Sitting on the foothills of Espadán Peak, Aín is a great option for keen walkers as the centre makes a great trailhead for a route taking you all the way up to the top. Other options will take you on a beautiful water walk, where you’ll find waterfalls and fountains along the way, all leading you back to the small charming village defined by whitewashed façades, pops of blue and plenty of flower pots.

As you wander in and around the centre, you’ll come across sights like the castle, the wash house (which sits next to a viewing point), an old mill and an 18th century church. Aín has got plenty to do all year round. The warm weather makes it the perfect destination whichever month you’re visiting. And there’s always the chance of seeing some snow up in the mountains.

Aín's nature areas are undoubtedly its great attraction as Sierra de Espadán Natural Park is brimming with beautiful landscapes and fascinating species. It is also home to a delicious olive oil, which you should absolutely try and then take home with you.

Don't leave without trying paella de montaña or arroz caldoso. Other culinary delights to put on your to-try list are Olla de Poble, the delicious sausages and traditional sweet treats including orelletes with honey and nougat. Lastly, pick the right dates and you’ll be treated to the amazing local cherries, which make an incredible souvenir. Come to Aín and fall in love with the destination forever.
