La Atalaya

This name is given to a watchtower from the Moorish period, although it has been attributed to the Roman period. It is on the top of a steep hill which forms la Pedrissa range, overlooking the river Mijares and is visible from the Castle. The cylindrical tower is about 5 metres tall and made out of stone blocks and mortar. This was a lookout tower which watched over the bridle path, possibly Roman in origin, that passed below through the mountain range of la Pedrissa.
