Gaze at rock art that has been listed UNESCO World Heritage.

If you love prehistoric art and are keen to see it up close, Els Ports county has a site that you absolutely have to visit. We are talking about Morella la Vella rock art, which is part of the Rock Art of the Mediterranean Basin, which was listed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1998.

Morella la Vella sits 6km from present-day Morella, in Morella la Vella settlement, which was where some of the earliest civilisations settled in the area. So what will you find if you come here? You can enjoy gazing at hunting scenes and schematic depictions in a shelter affording incredible vistas over the surrounding natural scenery.

You will see a number of realistic figures, particularly goats. The rock art in Morella is located in a number of caves, namely El Barranquet, El Llepús, La Coveta de la Cornisa as well as the Alta and El Roure galleries. Some of the sites are open to visitors and there are free guided tours at the weekend and on bank holidays. Get in touch with Morella’s Tourist Information Centre for more information and make the most of the opportunity to admire the Region of Valencia’s rock art which has survived the passing of time and made it to the present day.
