The Old Castle And The Magdalene’s Hermitage

Img 1: THE OLD CASTLE AND THE MAGDALENE’S HERMITAGE

The hill on which the "Castell Vell" castle is located has been occupied since the Neolithic Age. The remains of the castle are Islamic although the Christians occupied it later, abandoning it after their moving to the flat ground. The remains prove the existence of three enclosures. On the upper one, remains of walls with three semicircular towers are preserved. On the intermediate area stands the Magdalene’s Hermitage, which is excavated in the rock and made up of two naves divided by an arcade.
