Valencia starts June with music, opera and dance

The city of Valencia is hosting a June programme of cultural events featuring music, opera and dance that you won’t want to miss. This exciting schedule includes the VI Festival del Mediterrani in the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, running throughout June, and the Ensems International Festival of Contemporary Music, the oldest chamber music festival in Spain. Plus, up to 16 June, you can also catch one of the International Dance Season (Dansa València) performances.
The 2013 VI Festival del Mediterrani returns to the Palau de les Arts in Valencia with opera, concerts, recitals and lots more. The programme includes opera, with Othello, piano recitals of music by Verdi and Wagner, plus works by Brahms and Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. This week Valencia will also be hosting the Ensems International Festival of Contemporary Music, the oldest chamber music festival in Spain. Concerts will be held from 29 May to 2 June in various cultural venues and at different times of day. Ensems focuses mainly on chamber music, but the event usually includes an orchestral concert as well as a series of educational and other activities.
