18th Marathon in Espadán
Publishing date 11/02/2016
Running through the mountain may be a new challenge for some. For some others it is just something they already now and are used to doing. There are some differences between running through the mountains and traditional athletics. It is obvious we are running on a steep and complicated ground which can vary greatly (ground, grass, snow, rock, etc.) and sometimes can be even completely unknown. It is a very uneven piece of land and there is a new decisive factor ―descents. Weather is often unforeseeable and sometimes weather conditions can be extremely hot or cold. Alright, alright, but… are you going to miss this opportunity?
Practice your favorite sport in Sierra de Espadán, where the Iberian System gets close to the sea and divides the basins of rivers Mijares and Palancia. This mountain range combines a unique lithology (Triassic sandstone) and an frequent rainfall, having a spectacular landscape full of pines and cork oaks as a result.
The next Marathon in Espadán has a date and it has already been confirmed. Organized by Club Triatlón Alto Palancia, its 18th edition will take place on Sunday, 21st of February 2016 in the Valencian town of Segorbe. Everyone can take part in both the marathon and the half marathon regardless of the gender or nationality and the fact of being federated or not as long as they are 18 on the 21st of February of 2016 and have fulfilled all requirements during the registration.
The route of the marathon will be 42,195 km long, while the half marathon will be 24 km long. If you would like to register yourself or you have any doubt, you will find all the information by
