Theatre, music, dance and street performance are all featured in the Festival d'Estiu de Teatres-Sagunt a Escena: a very special invitation from Teatres de la Generalitat for the festival that takes place from 30 July to 25 August. Once again this year, the Roman Theatre in Sagunto provides a magnificent setting for this summer event.

This year's Festival includes some fantastic shows from companies based in Valencia, Spain and around the world, with two première performances and big names from the performing arts world, such as Concha Velasco, Mario Gas, Sergio Péris-Mencheta, Tristán Ulloa, Mar Gómez, José Huertas, Paco Azorín, Juan Mayorga and Juan Gea.

The zarzuela La corte del faraón, by Saga Producciones, is being staged on 6 August and is a unique show in the genre for its risqué humour and wealth of comic situations, all guaranteed to keep the audience entertained. On 9 and 10 August, Valencia-based company Arden will be performing Sueña Casanova, a classic-inspired piece directed by Chema Cardeña.

Tickets are on sale at the Festival box office in Sagunto Town Hall from 6:30pm onwards on performance nights.

The main aim of the Festival is to make culture, specifically the performing arts, available to wider audiences. To help achieve this, the Festival also includes a series of free shows in the 'Off Romà' programme. Performances take place in Plaza Teatro Romano, the square in front the main entrance to the Roman amphitheatre.
