On Saturdays during February you can go on one of the free guided tours around the former Altos Hornos del Mediterráneo steelworks furnace in the port area of Sagunto. This a good opportunity for seeing how Sagunto restructured its industrial scene. After your tour of the steel furnace, why not take in some of Sagunto's other tourist and cultural attractions, like the castle and the Roman amphitheatre.

The tours are a the result of a joint initiative set up by Sagunto Town Council and the Foundation for Protecting Sagunto's Industrial Heritage and are part of a series of activities and events to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the closure of the Altos Hornos del Mediterráneo steelworks. Reclaiming this industrial site means that everyone can now visit this impressive 64 metre-high tower and tour the exhibition showing how mineral was transformed into steel, what life was like in the steelworks, and how Sagunto's port complex developed into what you see today.
