this week has started the second campaign of archaeological excavation at the Roman site Rana held that the University of Alicante.

After the first work done last year and confirmed the interest of the site, this second campaign has expanded the excavation area and the duration of it.

There are planned visits to the excavation by students of the school and the secondary school as well as a visit scheduled open to the public on Sunday 17 February, each guided by responsible of research team. 
The Roman site of La Rana is located in the township of Gata de Gorgos, along with the La Rana ravine that separates the road CV-134. 
The surveys conducted by J. Bolufer, director of the Museum of Javea, more than two decades acquainted with the existence of a Roman potter dedicated to the production of amphorae for wine packaging, as well as ceramics and construction material common. This center potter, which was in operation during the centuries II and III. BC could be related to the nearby Roman town The ecclesiastical.
