Do you want to explore the fantastic countryside in Alcalà de Xivert and the Sierra de Irta Nature Reserve? Then come and take part in the walking event organised by the "Majorals Sant Pere 2015" on Saturday 20 April and hike 15.5 kilometres through picturesque landscapes for about 4 to 5 hours.

Alcalà de Xivert-Alcossebre, north of Castellón, is lucky enough to have some amazing countryside very close by, including Sierra de Irta, a protected nature reserve inside the municipal area, plus over 10 kilometres of coastline with a huge variety of beaches for rest and relaxation.

Sierra de Irta is a nature reserve that protects beautiful mountain and sea views plus an extensive cultural heritage and a wealth of animal and plant species.  The route we're suggesting here leads you to rural sites like "Les casetes de Volta", "Les Barraquetes de pastor" and "Els forns de calç" (ancient lime kilns), that provide a contrast to more impressive monuments such as the "Castillo de Xivert".

And from the mountain to the sea, from the Irta mountain range a huge coastal plain extends towards the sea at Alcossebre. If you decide to visit the area, don't miss the excellent local beaches of Las Fuentes (near the yachting marina), Carregador, Romana and Tropicana. Set in a quieter spot are Tres Playas, small rocky coves and inlets.
