Sports in Torrevieja attrack every year a good number of athletes from all over Europe, as well as onlookers. The celebration of the 5th City of Torrevieja International Trophy, from 27th to 29th January, is a great incentive for those who start in the sailing world as it is an international children's sailing and Optimist class.

There is no excuse to come to Torrevieja, which has sandy beaches and coves and a nature reserve unique in its kind, the Lagunas de La Mata and Torrevieja. This safe harbor represents half of the municipality and consists of two saltwater pools that acquire pink and green tones with the Sun's light. These wetlands have a great importance from botanical and biological point of view, but also economical because it is inside the exploitation of the salt lakes of Torrevieja, one of the largest in Europe.
