Publication date: 23/01/2012

Stone and Water Paths in the Vall de Pop

The itinerary Stone and Water Paths connects all the towns in the Vall de Pop, that is to say, Alcalalí, Benigembla, Benissa, Castell de Castells, Lliber, Murla, Parcent, Senija and Xaló. Through this route you will learn the importance of its ethnological heritage, derived from agricultural and rural architecture, but also those directly related to water.

Among the most representative elements that can be found along the way, are those who are part of the traditional hydraulic architecture. Wells, cisterns, ponds, ditches and windmills fill the geography of this wonderful area of Alicante.

The route also runs between different elements of the architectural heritage of 'Dry Stone'. This technique consists of building walls of stone without any mortar. In the Vall de Pop you will find its highest representation in terraced areas. The municipalities distributed in this exceptional area are a territory of great natural beauty and ecological value.
