Monastery of Sant Joan del Penyagolosa
In the inland area of Castellón, specifically in the district of l'Alcalatén, we find Vistabella del Maestrazgo, a peaceful town at the foot of the highest peak in the Region of Valencia known as the 'Pico del Peñagolosa' (1814 metres).
However, on 30th and 31st January, this town will be temporarily exchanging its usual peaceful mood thanks to the Festival of Sant Antoni. Over this weekend, in Vistabella del Maestrazgo, there will be all kinds of activities for children, traditional games, celebrations and, of course, the lighting of the bonfire.
Vistabella del Maestrazgo
Vistabella del Maestrazgo is well worth taking your time to visit. Walking up to its Castle and taking in the remains of its surrounding walls, or visiting the Sanctuary of Sant Joan de Peñagolosa, one of the most emblematic buildings of the province, are pleasant and fun pastimes. Activities that can be complemented by a tour of the town centre, where you will find the Font de Dalt fountain, famous for its medicinal properties, and the Font de Baix, one of the adjacent washing places made from stone.
